Lake Faneromeni

The lake is located in the dam of Faneromeni, about 2 km from Vrontos Apartments and accessible by foot. The lake is 7.7 km west of the village of Zaros and about 12 km north of Tympaki, in the region of Faneromeni village in the province of Pyrgiotissa. It is located in a wonderful location, in a green valley on the southern foothills of Psiloritis.

Lake Zaros

The artificial lake of Zaros or Votomos is located on the southern slopes of Psiloritis,20km northeast of Faneromeni. The name Zaros comes from molecule Za, meaning a lot, and the verb flows. "Zaros" means the place where much water flows. Around the lake there is a tavern - cafeteria, where the visitor can rest and enjoy trout and salmon, which are bred in cisterns next to the lake.

Knossos

Knossos

The Minoan palace is the main visiting area of Knossos (or Knossos), an important city in antiquity, with a continuous life from the Neolithic to the 5th century. It is built on the hill of Kefalas, with easy access to the sea but also to the interior of Crete. According to tradition, there was the seat of wise King Minos. Exciting myths, the Labyrinth with the Minotaur and the Daedalus with Icarus, are linked to the palace of Knossos.

Phaistos was the second most important city in Crete during the second millennium BC, after Knossos, and is now an important archaeological site. It is located in the southwest of Heraklion, at a distance of 60 kilometers, at an altitude of 150 meters, to the south of the river Geropotamos and the ancient Limassol. The view of the hill is panoramic and is surrounded by the imposing mountains of Psiloritis, Asterousia and Lassithi Mountains.

Gortyna

Gortyna was an ancient city and archaeological site today in Crete, 45 km south of Heraklion. Gortyna, which was the capital of Crete during the Roman era, was inhabited in 3000 BC. and flourished during the Minoan period. It was destroyed twice by earthquakes, the second completely. In its ruins are built the villages Agioi Deka, Metropolis and Ambelouzos.
